On 2nd December 2020, Stowe Australia hosted our Team 51 Bootcampers at the Macquarie Park Data Centre (IC2).

 Stowe Australia has been awarded the contract for the installation of electrical and communications infrastructure at the Data Centre Campus.

 We were hosted on the day by Steve Mitchell, Sydney Construction Manager, Stowe Australia. Steve shared his knowledge and experience in the electrical industry including new technology entering the industry and the various career pathways and opportunities available. Technology is ever changing and plays a large part in project management for Stowe. Steve explained the importance of keeping up to date with new practices and managing time critical work. Team 51 left with a very positive outlook and enjoyed the site visit.

 A huge thankyou to Stowe, a valuable and long-time partner of Bootcamp, who continue to provide apprenticeships for our graduates through Productivity Force.

Team 51 were given the amazing opportunity to visit the Lendlease site for the upgrade to Randwick Hospital on Thursday 10th December.

 The NSW Government is partnering with UNSW Sydney to deliver the Integrated Acute Services Building (ASB); the first stage of the Randwick Campus Redevelopment and the catalyst project for expanding the world-class health, research and education facilities at the Randwick precinct. Lendlease has been awarded the contract to deliver the Integrated Acute Services Building as part of Stage 1.

 The afternoon started with a presentation from Stakeholder Engagement Manager, Lauren Hosking, who gave an overview of Lendlease and the history of the organisation. This included an overview of some of Lendlease’s most iconic projects. We were then lucky enough to be given a guided tour by Senior Site Manager, Steve Polsen, who also shared his impressive journey of progression through Lendlease over the years. His story was inspirational and highlights that hard work including a great work ethic, pride in his quality of work and dedication, is a formula for success. We got to see the importance of large scale project planning and execution including the logistics involved on such a large construction site. We saw Lendlease’s commitment to safety including a ‘stop work’ on the cranes due to the wind speed!

A huge thank you to Lendlease for such an educational and inspirational afternoon.

This month our Bootcampers were given the opportunity to gain real experience in Landscape Maintenance at the prestigious Fernhill Estate in Mulgoa.

Fernhill Estate is an iconic rural landholding overlooking the Mulgoa Valley. The Estate spans 383 hectares at the foot of the Blue Mountains. Our sister company, Productivity Force, was awarded the Landscape contract by NSW Government and, as part of the contract, they are restoring the Estate to its original glory.

Our Bootcampers were given real experience in lawn care and maintenance, repair and construction of timber fencing, repair and construction of stone walls and general landscape maintenance tasks. They worked together to produce some amazing results and many stated that the experience was one of the highlights of the program.

Productivity Force have employed 3 Bootcamp graduates to work within their crew on the project and the Site Supervisor has given positive feedback on their performance.

We would like to say a big thank you to Productivity Force and NSW Government for providing the opportunity and hope to see more employment opportunities for our graduates continue to grow in projects like the Fernhill Estate. Fernhill Estate is an iconic rural landholding and is located less than an hour’s drive west of the Sydney CBD overlooking the Mulgoa Valley. The Estate spans 383 hectares of rolling parkland at the foot of the Blue Mountains, it encompasses a magnificent sandstone residence, additional cottages, a horse racing track and stables.

We are thrilled to share the news of our new partnership with SafeSmart Access to promote and educate young people on product innovation in the construction industry along with exposing youth to the scaffolding trade. The construction industry in Australia is an industry with an abundance of opportunity. Exposing young people at the start of their career will ensure the knowledge and skill required to keep our industry thriving.

SafeSmart Access is the designer and manufacturer of Proscaf and specialise in portable height access equipment. Equipment includes work platforms, stairs, mobile scaffolding, edge protection and custom-built platforms. They reside at the industry forefront with their innovative designs and product solutions.

Through the generous donation of Proscaf and innovative height access solutions, our Bootcampers will develop an in-depth knowledge and familiarity with scaffolding and safe height access and learn how to use these products in the safest and most productive way.

The donation included a range of products including Proscaf, a Mini Mobile Scaffold Tower and Modular StepOver Platform. Plus, we had the pleasure of being joined by 3 vibrant members of the SafeSmart team who gave us a day of training in their products so that we can continue to pass this knowledge on to our Bootcampers.

Productivity Bootcamp is coming to Campbelltown!

The team at Productivity Bootcamp are excited to announce the opening of their third site in October 2020!

“The community of Campbelltown and the greater Macarthur region have helped us advocate for the expansion of Productivity Bootcamp to the region. We are so excited to be working with some amazing young people in the area and empower them to gain the skills and employment opportunities they are looking for” – Rebecca Embleton, Director, Productivity Bootcamp

Through funding from the NSW Government, over 200 young people in a 2-year period will be given the opportunity to participate in our transformative program that has been delivering real employment outcomes for youth since 2015. Participants will be given the opportunity to learn trade-related skills in areas such as; carpentry, plumbing, electrical, formwork, concrete, bush regeneration, horticulture, bricklaying and more. They also develop the attributes critical to employment success like reliability, communication and team work skills.

Located in the Maryfields Estate in Campbelltown, the new site has been provided in-kind by the Franciscan Order of the Friars Minor and Innova Capital. Two organisations that are equally as passionate about investing in today’s youth to ensure a greater future for tomorrow.
